WEEK 12
Results: 8-7
Season: 112-61 (64.74%)

OK, call me crazy, but one of the things I hate is how the pro's never own up to their blunders. Well, except for Jimmy Kimmel, but I'm not sure if the word pro is appropriate there. Anyway, The Reckoning is the section where you can read my comments about my predictions and see how I did. And yes, I'll own up to it when I get a pick royally wrong.

OK, I didn't do so great. The weather and the upset hurt me. I mean, be honest, how many people picked the Bears, the Pack, the Lions, or the Jags? Not many, that I know. Those are the things that can make or break a prognosticator!

On to the games...

Philadelphia Eagles 34, Arizona Cardinals 9
I think I have a tendancy to do well early on, but then I fall apart. Anyway, the Eagles walked away with this one as I said they would, they just did it mo' better than I thought.
(Prediction: Eagles 27, Cardinals 14)

Buffalo Bills 21, Kansas City Chiefs 17
Not only did I get this one right, but I came close on the score. Hey don't knock me, I gotta get the victories where I can. Rob Johnson was able to pull this one out. That doesn't change my mind, Doug Flutie is the better QB.
(Prediction: Bills 27, Kansas City 21)

Minnesota Vikings 31, Carolina Panthers 17
Robert Smith, 23 carries for 103 yards. The Vikings are not only looking good, but they are making it tough for a road to the Super Bowl to not go through Minnesota. Home field advantage looms large for the Vikes. It is a prize they can obtain if they keep playing good ball.
(Prediction: Vikings 35, Panthers 20)

New England Patriots 16, Cincinnati Bengals 13 - Dennis Miller Bowl
Patriots beat the Bengals. Foo Rah, my excitement is reaching epoch proportions.
(Prediction: Patriots 20, Bengals 10)

Tennessee Titans 24, Cleveland Browns 10
Although the Titans appeared to be trying to loose this one, they pulled it out. But how about that score? I hit this one on the nose! Skeptics rub your nose right here for a while. Show some respect for the great prognosticator.
(Prediction: Titans 24, Browns 10)

New York Giants 21, Detroit Lions 31
This was a good game, and the team that showed up to play won. The Giants couldn't get going until late in the game and that wasn't soon enough for them to win. The Lions seem not to be hurting after loosing their coach, so watch their playoff hopes keep them strong in the next few weeks.
(Prediction: Giants 21, Lions 18)

Indianapolis Colts 24, Green Bay Packers 26
Farve started and so did the snow. Funny that the safety on Indy's first possession was the difference in the game. Goes to show what a little cold weather can do.
(Prediction: Colts 27, Packers 21)

New Orleans Saints 22, Oakland Raiders 31 - Big Dog Bowl
Now Ricky is out and Blake is out. But the Saints are not. Call me crazy, but I still think they can beat the Falcons and the 49er's. That will give them 8-8. The key game now is against the Broncos. Fortunately it is in the Dome. Brooks is a tough kid and I think he can fill the big shoes at QB and lead the Saints to a wild card berth. Kudo's to the Raiders, they are a top ball club.
(Prediction: Saints 24, Raiders 21)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10, Chicago Bears 13
Who would've thought Chicago had a third string QB who could win in the NFL against the Buccs. Well, this is another one to chalk up to the temperature. I just hope the Buccs don't ask for a recount.
(Prediction: Buccaneers 35, Bears 10)

Miami Dolphins 3, New York Jets 20 - Game of the Week
Wow, I didn't expect this to be a dud. I really hope that Miami doesn't let this game dishearten them. They are a good team, but the Jets really seem to have their number. And they didn't even need over time.
(Prediction: Dolphins 21, Jets 20)

Denver Broncos 38, San Deigo Chargers 37
Denver tried everything they could to loose this game. Good ole' Gus almost made himself into home town enemy number one. Of course, the Broncos did give the Bengals their first win of the season, so this would've been appropriate.
(Prediction: Broncos 27, Chargers 14)

San Francisco 49er's 16, Atlanta Falcons 6
Well, the 49er's won. I'm not sure that it means anything, but they won. Atlanta is really struggling this year. I'm not sure what the problem is, but they need a major overhaul. As to the 49er's, they won't reach Montana or Young proportions, but given a year or two, they will be a tough team again. Their offense is still potent.
(Prediction: 49er's 28, Falcons 21)

Baltimore Ravens 27, Dallas Cowboys 0
Not only did the Ravens score a touchdown, but they blanked the Cowboys. That's not an easy task even though the Cowboys are not very solid this year. I mean, I don't think I'll ever be confused as a fan of the Cowboys, but even in the midst of their struggle, to blank them is quite a feat. Kudo's to the Ravens defense.
(Prediction: Ravens 20, Cowboys 10)

Pittsburgh Steelers 24, Jacksonville Jaguars 34
Well, I think the Jags really surprised the nation. They were, by all counts, out of it all. The Steelers were a team on the up. What a difference a game can make. After all the praise Slash was getting, I heard the gripes starting again last night. A loss was not what the Steelers needed in their chase of the Titans. Next week will tell whether they can overcome.
(Prediction: Steelers 21, Jaguars 14)

St. Louis Rams 20, Washington Redskins 33 - Scoreboard Bowl
The Redskins pulled this one out. I'm surprised. I would have liked to have gotten this pick correct, but at least it keeps the Saints close to the Rams. That's a good thing.
(Prediction: Rams 35, Redskins 28)
