The subject came to the attention of the RCES when
his ship, The Empress Poppaea, arrived from the
wilds after a misjump due to a catastrophic drive failure.
Contact for the Diaspora mission was suggested and initiated
by Palmer Richard (see RCES Personnel File
0011-06IV1200-2), the lead starship architect for the
mission, and previously a member of Captain Burrunsu's crew.
Little is known about the subjects background, or that of his
crew, besides what he has shared. His ship is of recent
construction and advanced technology and he claims to be an
exploratory free-trader from beyond Diaspora sector. His
primary concern seems to be getting his ship and crew home
again. In exchange for his role as commander of the mission
and his limited intel on the wilds and The Guild the RCES has
agreed to aid in the repair of his ship, currently in the
orbital yards. The rest of his crew has been assigned temporary
duties locally as part of the arrangement. The Captain claims
a full military career with a space naval force attaining the
rank of Lieutenant Commander prior to his current civilian
career as an interstellar trader and rise to command of The
Empress Poppaea. Of note is his use of an Old High Vilani
name, including the El prefix signifying a Knighthood. He
claims it was bestowed by a local ruling noble on an oasis world
in the wilds of Diaspora sector. Classified details are filed as

Poppa is generally easy going and prefers friendly
mediation to brute enforcement in his command but he will
not tolerate violation of safety procedures in routine
operations. He occasionally seems distracted or deep in
meditation and may be slow to respond. While the Captain
likes delegating he is not averse to sitting in the pilots
chair, or lending a hand in any effort that catches his
interest. When not on duty he spends most of his down time
playing various antique naval tactic scenario games, or
watching his collection of equally ancient 2D movies some
of which are not even in color. He also has a collection of
music from the same period and while unskilled isn't afraid
to grab a microphone and sing or play his harmonica with very
little encouragement.
